We’re excited to announce the release of EdiCue v5, a major update that streamlines ADR cueing with new tools for speed and efficiency. The standout feature is a brand-new Speech-to-Text workflow designed to accelerate the process of creating ADR Cues in Pro Tools.
New Transcription Window
EdiCue v5 features a new Transcription window that allows you to load one or more guide track WAV files, transcribe their content, and export a PTX file containing clip groups named with the transcribed text. These clip groups provide a great starting point from which to create your ADR cues.
This feature is powered by an offline implementation of OpenAI’s Whisper, meaning your audio files are never uploaded to the internet — all transcription happens locally on your machine. Whisper supports transcription in over 80 languages, including most European languages as well as Asian languages such as Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Urdu, Thai, and Indonesian. In EdiCue, you can let Whisper automatically detect the spoken language or select it manually, with the option to translate non-English dialogue into English.
Direct Pro Tools Integration
Another key addition in EdiCue v5 is support for direct session data import from Pro Tools using its scripting API. The ‘Get Session’ toolbar button now uses this method by default, significantly speeding up session imports — especially in sessions with a large number of tracks.

- Simplifies updating multiple cues when data is stored in a Pro Tools session. Export a new PTX cue session after bulk changes.

- Control Session Interface window functions directly from Stream Deck.

- Bug fix for assigning character cue numbers with Custom Sort — now supports per-character start numbers.
- Fix for MIDI file creation — long Alt Cues now display correctly in EdiPrompt overlays.

Upgrading
Users with a full EdiCue v2, v3, or v4 license can purchase an upgrade from our web store. EdiCue v5 licenses are backward-compatible with EdiCue v4.1.2 and later. Rental and EDU bundle licenses are already compatible and do not require an upgrade.
