Customising an Edit List to Conform location WAV files using EdiLoad

Have you been given an AAF where the location audio clips have been taken from the camera? Wondering how you can conform or link these clips to your multi-track location WAV files?

In the following video I run through how EdiLoad can be used to modify different elements of an Edit List, either when imported from an EDL or AAF, so that each event in the list will link to the correct location WAV file.

With EdiLoad v5+ the process of conforming (assembling) your location WAV files has been simplified with the Assembly window. See this blog post for more information.

This video shows how a clip name can be modified to become the WAV file name, but maybe you have a clip name that contains the WAV Sound Roll Name. Either way, the flexibility of the EdiLoad Column Transfer window allows you to modify this data so that it matches your WAV files.

If you haven’t already seen it, check out the blog post Conforming (assembling) Location WAV Files with EdiLoad and Pro Tools for a full background on the process before watching this one.

Note: EdiLoad v3 exported conform reference tracks as a ptx file. With EdiLoad v4 these are exported as an AAF file, while EdiLoad v5+ uses the Assembly window.

I hope this video helps you to prepare your session ready for dialogue editing and/or mixing. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback in the comments below.
